Product Details

For 1950, Chevrolet came up with a revolutionary style that would set a pattern for decades. The Bel Air Hardtop was styled as a convertible with a non-detachable solid roof. Models like this had been around since the 1920s, including early Chevrolets, with no degree of success. But the newly revised idea, sweeping the GM line from Chevrolet to Cadillac, had finally found its era. The Bel Air moniker was used from 1950-1981, but the first two generations (from 1950 to 1957) live on as some of the best looking and significant body styles ever produced by the United States. This '53 Bel Air convertible is an absolute stunner. It received a full restoration, cosmetically & mechanically, that was finished in 2011. Since then it has been very rarely driven and stored inside except for a few cruises and shows. It won Best of Show at the prestigious Antiques on the Bay in St Ignace and several other events drawing crowds where ever it goes. It was also featured in the 2011 VCCA magazine as the Best of the 6-Cyliner Era. It's an incredible car that is powered by what's believed to be the original Blue Flame 235ci inline 6 cylinder engine and 2-speed powerglide automatic transmission. The mechanical work was fully gone through and reworked by renowned VCCA engine builder John Hudson of upstate New York. The power convertible top and AM radio work great as this car starts and drives like a dream. This car is a can't miss and one of the best examples you can find!
