We are pleased to offer for consideration this outstanding, 1971 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile. Volkswagen has been producing the vans since 1950, and over the years it has proved to be a fantastic "adventure seeker." The Type 2 VW vans remain an iconic historic figure today. The Westfaila-Werke Van Conversion Company converted the type 2 VW vans into these awesome campers. These icons are still nostalgic head turners today with a lot of fans whenever they head down the road or pull into a campground. The 1971 Campmobile offered here is a highly restored example finished in its rare color of Chianti Red. Spending its life in the southwestern US, and through responsible ownership, the bus remained highly preserved until it was treated to a complete, high level ground up style restoration approximately 8 years ago by renown VW specialist “Joe's Cool Cars” of Denver Co. The shell was stripped and repainted in its original color, the 1776 dual port motor was completely rebuilt, the interior wood was fully refurbished, the interior upholstery is upgraded, new seals all around, canvas top replaced, bumpers chromed, wheels powder coated with new hubcaps and trim rings, newer tires, etc. As a result, the presentation of this Campmobile is stunning all around. The interior shows as new, the exterior paint is excellent all around, the engine and engine bay is highly detailed, and the underside pans, rockers etc. are original and remain excellent. The brakes and suspension have all been refurbished and feature new bushings throughout. The interior is complete including curtains, stools, fold out table, ice box, sink, storage cabinets and closet, rear bed, cots, perfect dash, excellent gauges, seat belts, new front rubber floor, picnic basket, lights, fire extinguisher, electric outlets etc. Mechanically, this is one of the best running and driving Westy's that we have had. It has been driven approximately 2500 miles since the restoration and is fully sorted, turn key and ready for immediate enjoyment. Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobiles have made their mark in the collector car world and are sought after all around the globe. 1971 is a particularly good year for these as it is the last year for the upright motor and the first year for disc brakes. This is a vehicle that offers much enjoyment as well as a solid investment for your portfolio.
