The successor to the ZR-1 made its debut in 2001 as the Z06 bringing back the name from the high performance version of the C2 Corvette in the 1960's. Instead of a heavy double-overhead cam engine like in the ZR-1, the Z06 used a high output tuned version of the standard LS1 Corvette engine. Upgrades to the suspension, weight reduction, rigid body style, larger wheel rims & tires, revised gear ratios, and functional brake cooling ducts had the Z06 outperforming its predecessor at every turn. In 2002, the engine was uprated to 405 horsepower by means of a larger volume air intake, stiffer valve springs, lighter sodium filled valves, more aggressive cam phasing & lift, revised pistons, and revised block. Many believe Chevrolet purposely underrated the horsepower rating due to regulations and it's actual output is more in the 425 horsepower range. This Z06 in a 2-owner vehicle out of Chicago that has always been stored in the winter. Everything is essentially stock on the vehicle outside of routine maintenance and an aftermarket exhaust (Stock exhaust included in purchase) and K & N Air Intake. The 6-speed manual transmission is a lot of fun to drive. This is a lot of power per dollar in a car that is in excellent condition.
