THIS. . . is a 1992 Autozam AZ-1, finished in red with a black interior. Said to be imported from Japan in 2019, it's equipped with a metric instrument cluster, and the odometer shows about 72,500 kilometers, which represents approximately 45,000 miles. Equipment includes 13-inch steel wheels, gullwing doors, cloth upholstery, a MOMO steering wheel, air conditioning, and a rear window defroster. The only modification reported by the seller is a Kenwood head unit. Sized to comply with Japan's strict kei car regulations, the tiny Autozam AZ-1 was developed by some of the same engineers who created the original Mazda MX-5 Miata, and it was manufactured by Suzuki. It made its debut in 1992 as a 1,587-pound coupe with gullwing doors and a mid-mounted engine that gave it excellent handling. About 4,392 units were sold in Japan by Autozam — a Mazda-owned sub-brand — until 1995. Power comes from a mid-mounted, 657cc turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, which produces 63 horsepower and 63 lb-ft of torque. Output is directed to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.
