When the Ferrari 308 hit the automotive scene in 1975 there was much fanfare around the car as it was highly regarded as a worthy successor of the much loved Dino 246 and its styling is still considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built. According to Sergio Pininfarina, the inspirations for the styling came from the Dino Berlinetta Speciale that was exhibited at Paris in 1965. Road testers and enthusiasts alike hailed the refined performance the car had to offer. Paul Frere summed it up as he began his 1976 Road and Track review “Dino 246 fans, cheer up! There is a worthy 2 seat successor to your favorite car. And it's even better, faster, quieter and more comfortable.” The car is powered by its original 3.0 liter mid mounted V8 engine fed by a quartet of two-barrel Weber Carburetors. The car has been driven 39365 miles since new. In the Summer of 1988 and at 38166 miles, the car was taken into the skilled hand of FAF Motorcars, Inc. and treated to a major engine out mechanical service and a professional quality repaint in its original factory color. Since the car was acquired by a collector, kept in a climate controlled environment and driven just an additional 1200 miles to this present day. As a result, the car is excellent all around. The original leather interior including the dash, door pockets, carpets and leather steering remain in remarkable condition showing just some expected minor wear on the driver seat, the paint and exterior trim are excellent, near perfect glass, excellent body seals and the engine compartment remains excellent as well with all the seals, gaskets and rubber components remaining functional with no dry rot. The car starts right up with no smoke, great throttle response, no leaks, smooth shifting and good braking. Ferrari is the most revered name in international motoring and with values on all Ferrari's sky rocketing in the international market. The Ferrari 308 is arguably the most recognized model, and the carbureted cars such as this are among the most desirable. This represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a sports car icon as well as a blue chip automotive investment. There is no wrong decision here.
