The Mach 1 moniker came with performance and appearance upgrades of the Fastback Mustang line starting in 1968. One of the most recognizable features of the 1971-73 Mustangs is the optional (2-toned with matte black) hood with dual scoops. They were available as a non-functioning version or fully functional on models ordered with the Ram Air option. This ascended the horsepower of the Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland V8 to 275. This Mach 1 is powered by its original 351 Cleveland V8 and is an original Ram Air optioned car from the factory making it the most powerful 1972 Mach 1 available for order. It was originally delivered to Louisiana with these options and in addition power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, select shift cruiseomatic, bodyside tape stripe, and the Mach 1 sports interior option. We have a full documentation of the 2-owners bringing this car up to 2013 including the original order sheet and the original window sticker. This Mach 1 sits in excellent condition as part of a full frame-off restoration stripped, bead blasted, and painted in its original factory color of Medium Bright Yellow. The original engine was rebuilt to original modifications. The front suspension was rebuilt with new shocks, ball joints, and bushings. Other work includes new rod boots, new rear shocks, new tires, new Magnum 500 wheels & center caps, new gas tank, new alternator & voltage regulator, new ignition system, new headliner, new dash trim, new dash pad, and new printed circuit board behind instrument cluster with new voltage step down regulator. There is less than a 1,000 miles on this car since the restoration, and we hold the receipts and documentation on the work. This car runs and drives great. It is in excellent condition inside & out.
