Product Details

The original Bronco was an ORV intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ and the International Harvester Scout. The idea behind the Bronco began with Ford product manager Donald N. Frey. With the help of Lee Iacocca, the idea was pushed through into production. The early Bronco (1966-1977) was unlike any other Ford in which it had a frame, suspension, and a body that were not shared with any other vehicle. The Bronco was designed under engineer Paul G. Axelrad and unique to his design, the axles and brakes were used from the Ford F-100 four wheel drive pickup truck, the front axle was located by radius arms (from the frame near the rear of the transmission forward to the axle) and a lateral track bar, allowing the use of coil springs that gave the Bronco a 34ft turning circle, long wheel travel, and an anti-dive geometry which was useful for snowplowing. The rear suspension was more conventional, with leaf springs in a typical Hotchkiss design. A shift-on the-fly Dana Corp. transfer case and locking hubs were standard. This 1977 Ford Bronco Sport is from the last year of production for the iconic first generation model. One of just over 14k built that year, this Candy Apple Red example runs a 351 Windsor /automatic drivetrain combo and is the perfect driver or beach cruiser. Brought here to Michigan just a few months ago from the “everything is bigger” state of Texas. The 77 Bronco is an iconic year not only because it's the last year of the first gen production but also because the way they were equipped. Dual gas tanks with flat gas doors, sway bars, front and rear power disc brakes, power steering, column shift automatic and upgraded axels. Inside the bronco is set up to play in the mud or take to a sandy beach with the interior being completely rhino lined. The 3 inch lift with 33 inch BF Goodrich tires and fender flares trims this 77 out nicely. This Bronco Sport is a nice, solid entry level last year of production that performs great and is ready to get dirty.
