The Road Runner was a mid-sized car built by Plymouth with Performance as its main focus. It was a lower priced version of the upscale GTX . Plymouth paid a whopping $50,000 to Warner Brothers to use the Road Runner name and likeness from their Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner cartoons as well as the “beep beep” horn, which Plymouth paid another $10,000 to develop. It was a back to basics mid-size performance car. The interiors were very sparce, lacking creature comforts. In fact, the earliest versions of the first generation did not even offer carpet and other options were unavailable as well like power steering and front disc brakes. The standard engine was the 335 HP 383 Cubic Inch engine that produced a staggering 425 lb-ft tortque. This is a incredible Road Runner that we are offering for sale. It is a very freshly restored and sorted car. It sports a date-code correct 383 cubic inch engine mated to the desirable Torque-Flite automatic transmission. The car started life in Alabama and the only patch panels that were used were for the trunk floor. It has a very nice paint color combination with a very neat and clean interior. Everything has been done to this car to make it very reliable and an excellent runner. It is offered with the original build sheet, original owners manual as well as restoration and parts receipts. Headers were added at time of restoration that offers a terrific sound. This car starts, runs and drives excellent and is ready to go.
