Sometimes car manufacturers bring back a nostalgic name, but don't deliver on the modern performance that name should command. When Ford brought back the Shelby GT500 name in 2007, no such mistake was made. Ford's SVT team delivered a beast with a 5.4L supercharged V8 with an iron block and four-valve aluminum heads that provides 500 horsepower. A Tremec 6-speed gearbox routes all this power through a 3.31 limited-slip rear axle capable of mid 4 second 0-60mph time. Careful suspension tuning by Ford's engineers and a quick steering ratio make it feel surprisingly nimble through the turns, while a liberal traction control system allows for plenty of fun. This Shelby GT500 coupe is in excellent condition as it has just under 32,000 miles on it between 2 owners. It is originally a Southern California car and was purchased by the current owner 3 ½ years ago at a dealer in San Diego. Additional non-performance modifications include: push button ignition, Shelby VIN dash plate with Carroll's autograph, smoked third brake light, HID high and low beams, GT40 styled color matched wheels, and sequential taillights.
