Bentley is synonymous with term “luxury” as they are hand built in Crewe, Cheshire, England with only the finest materials available and hence, this automobile had a base MSRP of $195,000 new. Check a few option boxes and your well north of $225,000. It is powered by a fuel injected 6.75L Turbocharged V8 producing 296hp and 487lb. ft. of torque mated to a TH400 3-speed automatic, hence its “R” nomenclature signifying it as the high performance model with the “R” standing for “roadholding”. These vehicles came with every convenience option imaginable in the late '80s and they all still work. The paint and vinyl top are both in very good condition as is the interior but there is evidence of some wear on the driver seat, otherwise, this is still a very fine automobile. It was sold new in Toronto, ON, CA and remained a Canadian car most of its life and shows 55,108 Kilometers or 34,242 miles on the odometer, which is believed to be original. The Turbo R replaced the Mulsanne Turbo and in addition to more engine performance, it also sported a retuned suspension with an emphasis on performance, an ABS braking system, and fuel injection which replaced the Solex carburetors from the Mulsanne. Only 7,230 Turbo R Bentleys were produced globally from 1985-1997 for an average of about only 600 per year making them extremely exclusive automobiles as they were, and still are, a status symbol vehicle.
