Carrol Shelby was motivated by speed as a driver and after retiring from racing he obtained a license to import the AC Ace. He fell in love with the performance of the small English roadster at Le Mans and knew he could beef it up with a Ford V8 to compete with the fastest autos in the world. Shelby's thirst for performance and the victory circle caused him to become a household name and automotive legend, and the AC Cobra is his crowning achievement. With sales of actual AC Cobra's in the 7 figures, there are a few companies that can offer awesome replicas for that high-performance Cobra driving experience without the price tag. This Cobra was assembled in 1996 in Pennsylvania and is offered here for sale for the very first time. The fit and finish on this beauty reflects the care its received through the build and through its years on and off the road. A very dimensionally correct replica kit by mid states is what you are seeing here. This Shelby AC Cobra is painted in the correct Dark Blue with white stripes which is in wonderful condition on what appears to be a rust free body and frame. The exterior is accented with a vintage look of knock off halibrand wheels, chrome bumper guards and chrome side pipe exhaust. The interior is complete in dark blue and black with real leather jump seats. One of the best features of this Cobra is the correct “FE” style 427 engine with twin 4 bbl carburetors that is paired to a smooth shifting three speed automatic transmission. The shifter was replaced with a que ball hurst auto-stick shifter. The automatic in combination with the unique deep floor pedal box make this Cobra safe and very comfortable to drive. Front brakes and suspension are based on the Ford Mustang II, and the rear axle is solid beam Ford. This Cobra looks just ike some of the million dollar examples of the authentic Shelby Cobras on the market.
