Porsche designed the Boxster as a mid-engined two-seater roadster and was the first of the roadster designs from Porsche since their 550 Spyder. The model name first came with the “986” which was introduced in late 1996 and was using the 2.5L flat six-cylinder engine. Since then, Porsche has redesigned their Boxster for their new 2000 model which had the 2.7L engine then later released the “S” variant and boosted the power by introducing the 3.2L engine. In 2003, styling and engine output was upgraded on both and received a reworked exhaust pipe, air intake, front headlights were adjusted to a clear indicator opposed to the old amber color they used amongst many other fine little touches. This created a very recognizable name and has continued to boost Porsches sales to this day.
