Mercury began in 1939 and released just a single model line which was created to compete with medium-priced competitors. With success along the way they were quick to react to the ever-changing designs and sizes and responded with a successful introduction of its Mercury Eight in 1950. This allowed for the newer division to expand and grow quickly and within two years, the Monterey and Custom were released and shared the same body with the Lincoln. With an increased output on the newly added Y-Block V8 used all across the Ford lineup by 1954, these kept their business growing and held their footing within the automotive market for years to come This particular 1950 Mercury Sedan has all the class and style you could hope for in an early model Mercury which has seen its fair share of customization and comfort added. Moving this vehicle to a more modern powertrain, a well-fitted 427 Chevrolet V-8 gas engine matched to the ever popular 350 turbo automatic transmission, this vehicle is ready to not only be admired by the outside but from behind the wheel as well. With a 3:31 rear axle ratio, posi-traction, power brakes, power steering, electric fuel pump and upgraded radiator with fan, there aren't many aspects to the mechanical side that haven't been improved for the next owner to enjoy! From the exterior you see great coordination of colors added with the pearl exterior accented well with subtle pin striping and just the right amount of chrome throughout to really make this vehicle shine. A set of spotlights seemingly added as a fashion statement, but also offer a functionality feature with door poppers within the lenses! Many great little touches like this are found throughout this great custom ride but a mostly original interior really goes a long way of keeping the nostalgia alive in his wonderful model year. With a very original looking dash and leather-appointed seats and door panels, the comfort within this classic was clearly a feature not forgotten when the recreation of this ride was being completed. Wonderful additions to the interior include cruise control, power front bench seat, power trunk and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD media center to ensure more of that modern feature list requested by many.
