The Model 48 was the main competitor for Chevrolets cars and went through changes and refreshes almost annually to keep the model with new intrigue year after year. This vehicle replaced Fords V8-powered Model 40A and was first introduced in 1935. Up until 1937, this vehicle never looked the same from year to year but then the 1938 came out with such a popular look, they kept it close to the same up until war ceased production in 1941. Fords combination of price, practicality and looks pushed sales over and beyond the Chevrolet with 820,000 sold and the rest was history. These pre- WWII lead sleds are highly desirable as originals as well as street rod customizers. For the last 13 years of this sharp looking rides life it has been owned by the same person, customized to a classic looking hot rod, upgraded to a more modern powertrain and given some really nice amenities for its next owner to enjoy. The outside is a real head-turner with its beautiful grill and slotted engine compartment sides, the bumpers are in great shape and chromed to match the spectacular 5-spoke wheels and with the gentle tint to the windows to aid with the overall aggressive look. The mechanicals are very well done as we are told the automatic transmission was rebuilt by a GM engineer which is mated perfectly with the smooth running 383 stroker engine. Also, a nice set of 4-wheel disc brakes were added to ensure safety and overall comfort to the ride. The interior is also in great shape with a customized look but with classic features such as the dual-directional rear window rollers, vintage looking gauges on the dash and a very cool battery cover in the trunk that is designed to look like your cooler! The overall styling and quality of this vehicle cannot be missed, this vehicle also comes with a great deal of receipts and manuals of the work completed to it and is ready for its next owner to enjoy!
