Modifications are limited to an aFe Power dry flow air filter, Akebono front brake pads, and Zimmerman front brake rotors. Closely related to the "B8" Audi A4, the first-generation Q5 debuted for the 2009 model year to compete against rivals like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK in the burgeoning compact luxury crossover class. A mid-cycle update brought a new high-performance SQ5 trim which offered supercharged V6 power, torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive, and genuine sportiness not often found at the time in the otherwise relatively staid segment.
