Product Details

It was purchased new for $795 from Sutton Sales Co. in Saginaw MI. The car was owned by the same owner and was daily driven until 1973 when the Michigan Department of State suspended his license due to health and age. Included in the sale is a copy of the ticket he was given in 1973. The Essex made it 82,000 miles with same piston rings and bearings. During the winter the owner kept it in a shed with a coal burning stove in order to keep the car warm and when he drove it in cold weather he threw a blanket over the hood to keep the car warm. The Super Six comes with original title with numerous stamps for registration over the years, various owner's manuals and books, original took kit and jack. It is not very often a car comes with such an impressive history such as this. In 1929 a larger and faster six cylinder was introduced with 161 cu.in. displacement, 55hp and top speed of over 70 MPH . Also in 1929 a wider, roomier body was developed, 2-shoe self-adjusting brakes, hydraulic single-action shock absorbers, chrome plated exterior trim, Triplex safety glass, adjustable front seat and larger tires. In 1929 Hudson/Essex was the third best selling car. In 1999 the Essex Super Six changed hands once again and the new owner decided to bring it down to bare bones and give the car the complete restoration that it deserved. The car was professionally painted in its original Gazelle Brown and Seal Brown with cream colored stripe and black fenders. The interior was also completely redone to original condition and shows incredibly well. The drivetrain was also gone through and painted. This car is immaculate in every aspect.
