Ferrari produced the F355 from May 1994 to 1999 designing it as an evolution of the 348. The Spider F355 was introduced in 1995 and priced at $137,000. In 1995, upon release Car and Driver boated the F355 as “easily the best eight-cylinder Ferrari [we've] ever driven”. The F355 introduced a 5-valve cylinder head which allowed for better intake permeability resulting in a more power. Design emphasis for the Ferrari F355 was significantly placed on improved performance as well as drivability across a wider range of speeds and different environments. The 3.5L V-8 powering the F355 produces 375 hp and 268 pound-feet of torque allowing for a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and a ¼ mile time of 13.0 seconds, which allows it to outperform the 1999 355 F1 Berlinetta. The F355 Spider had its design honed with 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel resulting in elegant style and aerodynamic performance.
