Born out of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren, the SLR took inspiration from the legendary 300 SLR “Uhlenhaut Coupé” to become the Silver Arrow of the 21st century. Βased on a carbon fiber chassis and a front-mid-mounted supercharged V8 providing a tsunami of torque and a biblical soundtrack, the SLR left its mark as one of the most special Mercedes models in recent history. A total of 2,157 examples were reportedly produced in Coupe, and Roadster body styles, including 75 Stirling Moss speedsters. Power comes from a hand-built “M155” 5. 4-liter supercharged V8, rated at 617 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed “AMG Speedshift R” automatic transmission.
