The Thunderbird was redesigned in 1961 with a distinct bullet-like appearance. Along with the big overhaul of the styling, the Thunderbird came with impressive standard features that would be expensive options on other automobiles at the time including the “swing away” steering wheel, power steering, power brakes, back-up lights, and bucket seats. Another innovation was the “floating rear-view mirror” which is now the placement of the rear-view on almost all vehicles today. The Thunderbirds continued their selling success, and when Ford decided to revive the line in 2002 it was this generation's styling cues that dominated the modern take on the popular classic. This Beautiful 1963 Ford Thunderbird was completely restored in 1999. The car was stripped down and painted, including the engine and surrounding area. The car was also given a new convertible top. The Thunderbird was restored to be concours correct and is truly beautiful. In 2015, the 390 v8 was overhauled and was given new spark plugs and wires, new pistons, rings, bearings, camshaft and lifters, timing chain and was bored .030 over. The engine heads have hardened seats and ground valves. The car also received a new water pump, fuel pump, thermostat, front and rear brake lines, radiator hoses, front and rear springs, transmission filter and gaskets, complete exhaust system, axel bearings and seals along with pinion seals, fuel sending unit, 5 tires which are still under warranty and a battery, hood insulation kit, front and rear brakes. The Thunderbird also received an alignment and had the suspension sand blasted and painted original colors. The fuel tank was removed, cleaned and re-installed. The brake booster was also rebuilt. This beautiful Thunderbird also comes with the original dash plaque with the original owner's name on it. This Thunderbird has a tonneau cover.
