THIS. . . is a 1997 BMW 320i Touring, finished in Techno Violet with a black interior. This 320i is equipped with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission. The M Sport Package, M Sport suspension, roof rails, a sunroof, power-operated windows, and heated front seats. Modifications are limited to a TA Technix exhaust, a "square" set of front Style 23 wheels, a BMW 6-speed shift knob, and a Pioneer radio. Called E36 internally, the third-generation 3 Series made its debut as a sedan and as a coupe for 1992; the Touring wagon launched in 1995 was never officially sold in America. Its predecessor, the E30, was showing its age in the early 1990s so the E36 was welcomed as a major leap forward; it's often considered the first modern 3 Series. Production ended after the 1999 model year, when BMW phased in the E46. Power comes from a 2. 0-liter straight-6, rated at 148 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque. Called "M52" internally, it spins the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
