This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a piece of American Automotive history, and one of the most influential cars ever built. At the time, “sports car” in the United States meant a nice little cruiser. The Corvette launched its 2nd generation with the birth of the Stingray with a complete redesign barely resembling its predecessors. The Stingray was lighter, had independent suspension, and was aerodynamically tested. The only American cars that could produce similar speed were large, heavy Super Stock optioned Mopars and Super Duty Pontiacs. The United States had produced a true all-around sports car. 1963 Corvette Coupes are affectionately nicknamed “Split Windows” after the divided rear window that was eye-catching but also controversial. GM Head Designer Bill Mitchell fought Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov for the inclusion of the feature. After the 1963 model year, the GM executives sided with Duntov and the Split Window was just a one-year happening. The distinction of this rare look, and the birth of the stingray causes Split Windows to be one of the most highly sought after American collector cars. This '63 Split Window is powered by the original numbers matching higher output option L75 327ci 300 horsepower V8 paired with the 4-speed manual transmission. This is a 3-owner car with the same owner since 1976. It underwent a professionally done selective restoration in 2008 giving a highly original interior in excellent condition, new paint (Riverside Red factory color), and new chrome. It features a Hurst shifter, Knock-off wheels, 4-barrel carburetor, great condition no-hit body, and side exhaust. This car runs great and is in excellent condition. The Split Window is a can't miss collector that will just keep growing in value and folklore making these cars a very good investment. This car is an amazing offering!
