The GTO started off as an option package on the Tempest. The youth movement in the management at Pontiac wanted something built for performance, but General Motors had an edict on stock displacement. After the success of the GTO option package, the youth movement won and the birth of the famous model line and the trend of Detroit muscle cars was off to the races. This '66 GTO was a California car until 2001 as a beautiful survivor with just one repaint before it was brought to Michigan and is in excellent condition inside, outside, and underneath. This car has never had its frame off and is about as straight a car you can find. It is a stacked headlights stunner in a beautiful color combination of Marina Turquoise Metallic paint and Parchment interior. It's powered by the original 389ci (335 hp) V8 paired with a Hydromatic TH-400 transmission out of a '68 GTO . This car has an excellent feel and ride to it while being fair to the nostalgic feel of this classic muscle car. It features: new interior, new walnut instrument panel, '67 GTO heads (does run on unleaded pump gasonline), new 2 1/4 “ manifold dual exhaust system, B & M oil cooler, heavy duty coil springs, air shocks, tilt steering, Global West disc brake conversion, new radiator, Cragar wheels, and Pioneer CD player. This GTO is a lot of fun to drive, it's in excellent condition, and it is a very desirable body style on the classic car market.
