Product Details

We are pleased to offer this 1947 Chrysler Town & Country for consideration. The “woodie” convertible is an extremely rare find, and especially rare is such excellent condition. This (this one in our showroom) was an AACA National Award Winner. It shows with Noel Green paint with ash & mahogany wood. The wood is 90% original and in excellent condition. This car is a symbol of the post WWII boom where suburban living and extravagance are on full display with elegant vehicles like this were in high demand. The Town & Country is powered by a 135 horsepower Flathead V8 (the Chrysler New Yorker's 323). The car runs well, and has a new top to enjoy a cruise with the top up or down. The windows fit tightly to the top which is rare to find in these models today. The interior is in excellent shape while the chrome on the dash & steering wheel is stunning. There may not be anything more symbolic than the dual spot lights mounted near the side mirrors with controls in the interior to rotate 360 degrees. These remind you that this was successfully produced as the ultimate estate luxury vehicle for the post WWII era. This is an excellent show winner, and an excellent driver. Many of these didn't survive due to insufficient attention to the wood paneling. 90% original wood is practically unheard of. This car is a piece of American & automobile history and is a true must see.
