Product Details

Prior to 1941, when the AK Series began, pickups were essentially the same design as the cars available at the time. These pickups are distinguished by the vertical bars in the grille, while GMC actually stuck with the horizontal bars. Classic trucks are a growing part of the enthusiast automobile market with quality surviving examples tough to find. With World War II interrupting production of the AK Series, this is a rare body style to find as well. This is a 1946 Chevrolet AK Series pickup that has been owned in the same family since the 1950's. The current owner's Grandfather used sparingly over five decades even outfitting the bed as a camper at one point. The current owner decided to restore the truck finishing in 2007 while keeping the pickup largely stock mechanically. It's powered by the 216ci inline six cylinder engine paired with the 4-speed manual transmission (3-speed with a “creeper” gear). It has been left as a 6-volt setup in the effort to keep as original as possible. Check out this really rarely found body style that is the perfect parade vehicle!
