The design for the 1st year Riviera is a design and platform that is not shared by any other GM car (which is really rare for GM). As a response to the Ford Thunderbird, General Motors felt the need to develop a personal luxury car of their own. GM styling head, Bill Mitchell, went to work on a design for Cadillac, but all of the Cadillac models were selling at capacity. Buick jumped on the opportunity and these beauties were a strong success. This '63 Buick Riviera comes out of a private collection and is a stunning beauty maintained to stock specifications. It was specifically ordered on October 15th, 1962 and delivered on November 21st to Jennings Buick in Cincinnati, Ohio with the awesome combination of Arctic White paint and red leather interior. It was delivered with almost every option possible including: Sonomatic radio, soft-ray tinted glass, tilt steering wheel, wire wheel covers, air conditioning, four-note horn, power windows, positive traction differential, cornering lights, and heavy duty springs & shocks. It is powered by the original 401ci Nailhead V8 engine and 3-speed ST-400 automatic transmission. This car is a beauty and seriously one of the best designed cars inside and out in automotive history.
