In its stock form, the C5 Corvette Z06 is capable of matching or beating the 0-60 mph acceleration times of some of the world's premier sports cars at 4.0 seconds, with a standing quarter-mile time of around 12.4 seconds at 103 mph. The C5 Corvette also saw the transmission moved to the rear of the car enabling a 50/50 front/rear weight distribution for optimized handling characteristics. Use of lightweight materials and upgraded suspension components set the Z06 apart from the stock C5 Corvettes.
