The GTO started as a trim option since GM wasn't ready to commit to a car away from the mpg/family thinking….but then the high sales numbers forced them to make the GTO in to its own model. In 1968, GM redesigned it's A-body line with more curvaceous, semi-fastback styling. The front from the 2nd generation looks very different with side by side headlights and the “Endura” front bumper (that they famously advertised by hitting with a hammer to no effect). The goat was full on muscle and many credit the GTO for starting the muscle car craze. This '70 GTO is a great example of the classic muscle cars sitting pretty in Atoll Blue. This is a PHS documented car that was delivered new with optional power steering, console, and power front disc brakes. It's powered by its original 400ci V8 paired with a 200R4 automatic transmission (current owner has original transmission). It features correct cylinder heads, correct compression, 3:90 ring & pinion rear end, Auburn cone posi, Pontiac ceramic headers, redone seats (foam & springs), new glass, new gas tank, Be Cool aluminum radiator, new springs, and gas adjusted shocks. This car runs great, and is a great driver to have at the ready in the garage for a cruise or a show. Classic muscle like this never goes out of style! We hold receipts, PHS documentation, and a copy of the window sticker.
