Pontiac is traditionally given the credit for creating the muscle car on its tempest platform. What is little known is that Oldsmobile, even with its reputation of being a practical, highly optioned family oriented car, was stride by stride with Pontiac in the performance ring. Oldsmobile's F85 was light-weight, sturdy and gave a tremendous platform for applying horsepower. In 1964, the name 4-4-2, came from Oldsmobile's elite group of engineers: 4 Barrel, 4-Speed and dual exhaust. Since, the 442 became the performance marque of the Olds Cutlass series and is still revered today in all vintage performance car circles. We are pleased to offer this fully restored, 1966 Oldsmobile Club Sport Coupe 400CID, Tri-power, 4-speed. The car presents itself in awesome condition throughout. It is finished in classic red exterior paint over an outstanding black interior. The car is optioned with Bucket seats, console, Hurst 4 speed shifter, power steering, classic stock steering wheel, console mounted vacuum gauge and factory dash mounted tachometer. Other highlights include L69 factory tri-power carb set up, headers, 3.23 limited slip rear end, custom radio. Recent service includes new timing chain and gears, restored steering wheel, SS1 wheels, new tail light lenses and chrome, all carbs rebuilt, new hoses, Pertronix ignition, new fuel tank, new clutch pressure plate, fuel pump, new springs etc. In short, this car has a stunning – all stock – appearance and performance with high attention to detail. Mechanically, the car is fabulous to drive, recreating the performance / luxury brand that Oldsmobile is famous for. General Motors encouraged completion within their divisions back in the 50's and 60's, and Oldsmobile was at the top of the heap when offering the intersection of performance and luxury. This is very evident in the Oldsmobile 442 as they are vastly different then their competing cousins. What an opportunity to acquire pure class in a GM car.
