Product Details

This Bel-Air is a 3-owner car originally out of California. It spent a great majority of its life out West and is believed to retain all of its original sheet metal. Under the hood is the 235ci Blue Flame inline 6 cylinder producing 140hp matted to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic. The car received a complete high quality and meticulous restoration by Sullivan's Auto Body in Lincoln Park, MI and the numbers matching engine was rebuilt by Motor City Motorsports with all the work taking place between 2007-2008. The restoration consisted of utilizing the original Charcoal/Yellow interior and Crocud Yellow/Laurel Green exterior color schemes. Updates to the drivability include a new radiator, Petronix ignition, and a rebuild of the original carburetor. Only 5,000 miles have been put on the car since its restoration and the 80,678 miles is believed to be original. The car features power steering, manual brakes with front discs, original factory tinted windows, and original re-chromed rear bumper. Decoding the VIN reveals: • C = Bel Air • 56 = 1956 • L = Los Angeles, CA assembly • 33867 = 33,867th in production sequence Decoding the Cowl Tag reveals: • Body Style; 1011D = 2 Door Sedan • Color; 717 = Crocud Yellow/Laurel Green • Trim; 578 = Charcoal/Yellow Judging by its rust free start of the restoration and that it had the original body panels, original glass, original engine, original carb, and original rear bumper all intact when it was purchased by the current owner 7 years ago, it is safe to say that this car was well-cared for. The current owner carried on this care with the full restoration as described and it was done to a such a high degree that it won 1st place in the '47-'58 restored class at the 2011 Detroit Autorama. It has also been featured on the cover of Cruis'news magazine, photo featured in Super Chevy magazine, and won a top 10 award for Editor's Choice at the 2010 Super Chevy Show and Best of Show at Baker's weekly Sunday show, which is a massive weekly gathering at a Milford, MI eatery.
