The 10-year long project started with the major fabrication and assembly done by Butch's Rod Shop (Louisville, Kentucky), starting with a solid vintage hot rod purchased from Balls Rod & Custom years ago. Various details and final finish assembly were done by the owner and some friendly employees of Lobeck's V8 Shop. The top is chopped about 4” and filled on this original steel body, with exceptional patch-free fenders and running boards. Full floor pans and firewall are from 'Bitchen Products', all being finished and painted just like the top – show quality! Tasteful aluminum and stainless throughout the body and chassis assembly. Every fastener possible in the car is either polished stainless steel or chromed HS steel. The basecoat/clearcoat finish is done in 'Hot Red' and the paint is nearly perfect. Polished stainless Bob Drake bumpers, irons, handles, etc. The perfect re-chromed OEM grill shell leads the way out front. Top grade glove-soft black leather was used in the interior and trunk, done by the renown Shawn Appleman Interiors using a 'Glide Engineering' bench seat and fine black German wool carpet. Crank window regulators add the classic touch, while Bearclaw-type door latches keep the riders safe. The 'Classic Instruments' gauges are from their Hot-Rod series, and feature the optional domed lenses. Fully boxed 'Pete & Jakes' tubular frame with tube x-member. The front suspension is a 'Superbell' chrome tube axle and spindles, tapered chrome 'Posie Superslide' spring, and chromed 4-bar suspension and tube shocks. The banjo wheel tops polished 'Ididit' traditional tilt steering column that directs a 'Mullins' polished aluminum steering box and chromed cross-steer linkage. Rear axle is a 'Moser Engineering' 9” axle with a 3.50 posi, mounted with chrome and aluminum 'Viper' coilovers and chrome 4-bar suspension. Fixed and polished 'Wilwood' 4-wheel disc brake calipers with finned front backing plates and floor mount pedals. Complete stainless steel brake and fuel lines used throughout. The fuel tank is a 'Rock Valley' polished stainless steel extra capacity fuel tank. 'American Racing' Torque Thrust II 15” wheels and Michelin radials. Crate new Chevy 350 ZZ4 engine (375hp) with an Edelbrock carb and intake (Jet-Hot chrome); Jet-Hot coated headers. The rebuilt Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission has a fully polished case and spins a polished aluminum driveshaft. Walker copper radiator with A/C condenser mounted. Full 3” polished and welded stainless steel exhaust is by Danny Tesar (Lobecks V8). The car cruises cool and effortlessly at all speed, never running hot. A perfect car for local or long distance events, or warm afternoon drives.
